Tensioners on Alcoa 50,000-ton press

When Alcoa decided to redesign and rebuild their iconic 50,000 ton press located in Cleveland, OH, they contacted Superbolt to design specialty tensioners that could handle the demanding bolting requirements. Superbolt supplied (8) 40″ tensioners, (8) 39″ tensioners, (8) 39″ split nuts, (4) 11″ tensioners, and (4) 11″flexnuts.

Hundreds of various multi-jackbolt tensioners are also used on the press auxiliary equipment, such as pumps, valves, piping, etc. This monumental project was completed successfully, resulting in Alcoa’s largest forging press in North America.
